The Hendrickson SOFTEK NXT integrated monoleaf suspension and steer axle system is now available for the Model 579 and the Model 567 with set forward axles, Peterbilt has announced.
The next-generation integrated steer system saves more than 100 pounds compared to traditional two-leaf spring and I-beam axle systems, benefiting fuel-conscious applications such as tankers and bulk haulers.
“Peterbilt is pleased to strengthen our weight-saving leadership by offering this exclusive, lightweight suspension and axle system,” says Robert Woodall, Peterbilt assistant general manager of sales and marketing. “This is an exciting addition to our portfolio of lightweight options for the vocational and long-haul segments.”
The SOFTEK NXT system combines the STEERTEK NXT 12,500 lb.-rated axle and the monoleaf spring technology with an advanced integrated knuckle design. The design simplifies the kingpin bushing serviceability, improving uptime.
“Peterbilt recognizes the importance of driver uptime,” says Scott Newhouse, Peterbilt Chief Engineer. “The enhanced design of the SOFTEK NXT suspension and steer axle system demonstrates our shared commitment to maintenance efficiency.”
The 12.5K-rated Hendrickson SOFTEK NXT integrated monoleaf suspension and steer axle system is available now for order through Peterbilt dealers. The 13.2K-rated axle will become available for order by the end of the year.
